Young Girls Room Makeover

I love the way this room came out so much I wanted to share it here. Our oldest has had the same bedding and room decor since she was around two I believe, so it was nice to amp things up a bit four years later for her. Plus we had to do a big room switch as we await our fourth baby. This led to some organizing, room makeovers and purging.

One thing I have learned with my kiddos is that sticking to neutral room themes has allowed us to keep some pieces over time. I have never really done “themed” rooms but I have allowed their art work and a few decor touches to tell their story. For our oldest, it was once Elephants as a baby and then overtime became a touch of princess. Her gold crown pillow pictured here is actually from her bedding that she’s had the last several years. Some of her artwork flowed right in as well and that lamp is the very lamp she had on her nursery changing table. It was originally from Land of Nod (Crate and Barrel now) and has served us well and still fits her age and personality so much. I am so glad I went with my gut back then and chose pieces that would allow them to grow with my children.

What you can’t see is above the door there’s a cute princess canvas of all the Disney princesses that she still adores so much. And on the other side of windows is a large Barbie palace for her. I loved making this room slightly more mature but while also keeping the elements of it that allow her to still be my sweet little girl who loves dolls and Barbies.

Most of my finds for my children’s rooms are ALWAYS from Target. It’s just the place I can find the most things I like that are modern and affordable. I don’t like character stuff but I still want my children to be children and I find pillow fort brand does this well. Even for designing a nursery you would be able to find so many things!

So enjoy our little room tour here. Our girl loves this cozy space now with the sunlight streaming in and the softest bedding you’ll ever meet! Sources are on the bottom!
