Eco Friendly Baby Gift Guide

If there is one thing I love when it comes to gift giving, it is unique and eco friendly items that are often times handmade and sustainably sourced. This is especially true when the items are for a little one who will be putting the item straight in his mouth all day long!

When I was a first time mama and registering for my baby, I remember clicking on all the cute teethers at the store. I received several of them at our baby shower and the following Christmas as well. I slowly learned over time though that those plastic teethers, as cute as they are, are toxic and not safe for baby. Because of the chemicals in them, it’s basically like giving your baby a cancerous item, an item that can break apart easily and a choking hazard. In addition to some of the chemicals from the plastics, the materials sometimes fall apart and can break off for baby. HECK NO!

It may seem tedious to be so worried about teething toys and eco items, but it is something that makes me all giddy on the inside. I love items made sustainably and from healthy, ethical materials. Not to mention that most of these items are one of a kind and just plain darn cute!

Even if being a “natural” or “crunchy” mama isn’t your thing, I encourage you to search out for healthy teething toys, rattles and plush for your little one. Since everything becomes a chew toy, you may as well invest something that will last and not have any toxic side effects or any signs of damage and choking hazard.

Materials to look for: Wood teethers, Food grade silicones, Organic rags, Organic cotton, and any teether that is phthalate, BPA, lead, PVC and plastic free. A simple organic wash cloth is an excellent play toy!

Most of these are items are under $20 with a few really cool, bigger items for baby! Enjoy our eco friendly baby guide for this holiday season. All sources are linked below and because I like easy, peasy — these are straight from Amazon!

My absolute favorites below: the wooden keys are adorable! That camera on a leash is perfect because I learned with my last two that teethers on a leash are golden! That raccoon has me swooning and I’ll take that horse swing any day. We have a wooden play gym a little similar to this one and oh em gee, I love it so! Looks so much more appealing in the home, doesn’t need batteries and doesn’t have all of those hyper lights and noises!

What’s your favorite??
